2017, Photomontage and Collage
These photomontages depict a few of the many brutal killings at the hands of the American and Sicilian Mafia during the 1930s-1970s, inspired by the accounts of members of the Sicilian Mafia in Attilio Bolzoni's White Shotgun.
I have always been intrigued by the Mafia, and with this project I tried to take myself outside of my comfort zone by taking a note from the artists of the Berlin Dada movement; offense. I wanted to make something that showed how merciless and invasive these killings were, while simultaneously remembering that for Consigliere and men of honor, the murders meant next to nothing.
